The goal of search engine optimization (SEO) is to drive a steady, ongoing stream of highly–targeted
traffic to your website.
This is achieved by ranking your web pages highly
within major search engines – such as Google,
Yahoo, and Microsoft Live – for the keywords
and phrases most relevant to your business.

of search engine users click on a search
result within the first page…
and a full 90% of search engine users

Just getting your web site crawled and indexed
by search engines is not enough for
successful SEO, because literally hundreds–of–thousands
of sites are returned as being relevant to most
search queries. And, of all those sites returned
for a search query, only those appearing on the
first three pages of results – the top 30
listings – will ever be discovered by 9 out of
10 interested searchers. We know this from research,
from studies, and even from our own experience
of using search engines: the higher a site is
listed, the more likely we are to click and visit.
This
reinforces the need for marketers to
ensure that their websites are ranked
within the first three pages of search
results - particularly on the first
page… |

97.3%
of all Internet searches in America
are carried out using Google, Yahoo,
Microsoft Live, AOL, or Ask. |
Source:
Nielsen//NetRatings, September 2007
|
|
We know of some SEO services that claim there are as many as five thousand search engines, and
that your SEO success requires submission to all of them. But it is RankSense’s philosophy to focus
on the “big 5” because evidence shows these are the search engines Americans are using 97 out of
100 times to find the products, services, and information they desire.
This trend is not unique to America, either. An analysis of the top 50 Internet properties worldwide
reveals:
Google’s
sites lead the pack with 6.6 billion
searches, followed by Yahoo (2.4 billion),
and Microsoft (999 million).
With the exception of ask, activity
at the other search engines declined |

We think you’ll agree that it makes good common sense to focus like a laser on the vital few search
engines being used in 97% of searches, while ignoring the trivial many.

As Niels Brinkman, co–founder of Amsterdam–based research firm OneStat.com, recently put it:
Search
engines like Google, MSN, and Yahoo
can drive a lot of traffic to a website.
It is important that a webmaster or
SEO expert knows what kind of phrases
they have to use. |

The keywords and phrases you target for bringing
visitors to your website (from search engines)
are critically important. Because while it can
be a nice feeling to see your website at the top
of the rankings, (and an even nicer feeling to
see a stampede of visitors in your analytics reports),
this is not the true goal of search engine optimization.
The true goal of search engine optimization is
to coral those searchers who are interested in
the products, services, and information you offer–people who are ready and willing to take
action on your content in the form of sign-ups,
downloads, sales, and other related measures of
success. In other words, people who are
valuable prospects for your business.
Here is a quick recap of our 3 “common sense” keys to successful SEO for bringing a steady,
ongoing stream of highly targeted traffic to your website:
Rank
your webpages highly...
Within major search engines...
For the keywords and phrases most relevant to
your business...
Always keep these 3 "common sense" keys
in mind and rogue SEO consultants will be powerless
to fool you.

Let’s get even more specific: successful SEO aims to rank your web pages within the organic
listings of major search engines.
In the diagram below a green box surrounds the organic listings, and a red box surrounds the paid
listings.
Paid listings (also called PPC for pay-per-click) can be purchased using services like Google’s Adwords. Rankings within the paid listings are determined based on your ability (or willingness) to pay for traffic visiting your website on a 'per click' basis.
Organic listings, on the other hand, are not for sale at any price. Rankings within the organic listings are determined solely by what the search engine deems to be most relevant and useful for a given search query.
Just think about what that means... the chance to advertise without charge (and through a highly
trusted source like Google) to prospects who are actively seeking the products, services, and
information your business has to offer them. This is an unprecedented circumstance making SEO
perhaps one of the most exciting marketing opportunities of all time.
First of all, automated bots called search engine “spiders” crawl your web page and gather its
content.
Second, complex mathematical algorithms created by the search engines interpret the content
gathered, and attempt to make an objective judgment about the quality and relevance of your web
page, weighing through a range of on-page and off-page factors.
In the above illustration, for example, the web page judged by Google’s algorithms to be of greatest
relevance to the keyword/phrase 'car stereos' appears at the top of the organic listings, followed by the web page judged to be second most relevant, and so on... all the way down to number 1,890,000.
The higher up in the organic listings that your web page appears, the more traffic that page gets
from interested searchers (as our first “common sense” key to successful SEO explained a little earlier).
You have to make sure that the search engines' ranking algorithms clearly associate your page with
those keywords and phrases you desire.
It's not straightforward by any means because the precise nature of ranking algorithms are cloaked
in secrecy, and, to make matters more difficult still, rankings algorithms differ from one major search engine to the next. This is a real challenge for people who want to generate search engine traffic for their website, and do so without paying the escalating prices of pay-per-click advertising (or hiring an elite SEO consultant at fees upwards of $300 per hour).
And it is the ongoing search for a solution to this challenge that has forced many small business
owners (and others) to become technically proficient in the coding of their websites, learn programming languages, and master complex tools—all in the quest to generate high-quality traffic for their website, often on a shoe–string budget.
Indeed, it is not at all uncommon for a person to believe that their high quality content is relevant
for a particular keyword or phrase, only to have a search engine algorithm disagree completely!
We here at NEMedia believe such people deserve an elegant solution to their search engine
optimization needs: a solution that enables people to focus on their core competencies like being a
blogger, a copywriter, a webmaster or a developer. They need to do this without having to worry
about the technical complexities of ensuring their work appeals to both human beings and search
engines simultaneously.
That's what inspired us
to build RankSense.
Until now, search engine optimization suites attempting to aid the process of optimization have
presented the user with a baffling collection of tools, requiring substantive training, expertise, and/or patience to operate.
RankSense, by contrast, aims to be for SEO what word processing programs are for office
productivity—graceful and sophisticated software designed for a much wider audience than traditional SEO tools on the market today.

RankSense is a revolutionary new SEO software suite that makes ranking your web pages highly
within major search engines easier than ever before—for the keywords and phrases most relevant to your business.
Believe it or not, now almost anyone can bring a steady, ongoing stream of highly-targeted traffic to
their website from sources like Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft Live...even if they possess no technical knowledge, don’t know how to program, and don’t know anything at all about SEO.
This isn't going to happen overnight, of course, but step–by–step.
Most important of all, RankSense offers this amazing ease of use without sacrificing the power—or
intelligence—necessary to achieve high rankings for some of today’s most competitive search engine terms.
First, Smart Mode conceals the underlying technical complexity involved in the optimization
process, and guides you along a simple, step–by–step path towards the top of the rankings. It's a lot like having a knowledgeable SEO consultant take you under his wing.
Meanwhile, Classic Mode offers you instant access to a powerful, sophisticated set of advanced level
SEO tools.
Both modes are available to your projects simultaneously. You can switch between them at any time
with a single click!

| Discover
Rankings |
|
Examines how search engines currently
rank your site, just as a doctor examines
your symptoms before suggesting any
possible cure. With a single 'click'
you will discover the keywords searchers
are using to find your site, the pages
on your site associated with each specific
keyword, and the search engine results
page (and position within that page)
where each of your web pages are currently
listed... within all the
major search engines. |
| |
|
|
Search Engine Coverage |
|
Determines which pages on your site
are currently being crawled & indexed
by search engines, and which pages are
currently being ignored. Plus, simply
by clicking 'start task,' RankSense
detects, follows and checks all of the
links on your site to make sure no errors
are preventing your pages from being
indexed (while highlighting any problems). |
| |
|
|
Search Engine Selection |
|
It might seem obvious to target all
search engines in order to increase
your site’s exposure, but in practice
each search engine employs different
ranking criteria. Improving your standing
for a particular keyword across all
search engines at the same time is usually
extremely difficult. For best results,
we suggest your optimization needs to
be laser-focused, one keyword and one
search engine at a time. |
| |
|
|
Keyword Selection |
|
|
Innovative tool that will suggest possible
keywords and help you categorize them
based on the web pages you want to rank
highly within search engines (your “landing
pages”). You'll identify the keywords
most likely to bring a steady stream
of high quality traffic to your website,
because RankSense provides you with
an Opportunity Index
for each of your potential keywords.
This Opportunity Index
is calculated automatically based on
an analysis value, competition, and
other key metrics.
The Keyword Selection tool also helps
you to organize and categorize your
keyword research. |

|
|
Sitemap Builder |
|
A sitemap file is like an inventory
list or map of all the pages on your
website. Search engines use this “map”
to help speed up the discovery of your
pages by their crawlers. It also lets
you tell search engines relevant information
about your pages (how often you update
them, which ones are more important,
etc.). Sitemaps are particularly helpful
if your site has dynamic content—pages
that aren't easily discovered by following
links... or if your site is new. |

Competitive Intelligence |
|
Is there another website that consistently
ranks higher than you for your targeted
keywords? Competitive intelligence allows
you to learn from your competitors by
understanding why search engines see
their website as highly relevant for
your keywords. The goal here is to identify
and “benchmark” a successful
competitor that is already ranking for
the keywords you are trying to target. |
| |
|
|
Analyze Competitors and Analyze My Site |
|
Examine how your targeted keywords are
used in both your competitor's site
and your own site. The idea is that
search engines should see the same or
a similar relevance profile when they
evaluate your page for those keywords
as when they evaluate your chosen competitor.
The resulting quality signals provide
excellent guidance and a clear direction
for the changes you need to make to
your landing pages. RankSense helps
you use these differences to improve
your pages in...On-Page Optimization. |
| |
|
|
On-Page
Optimization |
|
Improve the relevance profile of the
landing pages you desire: you can add
your targeted keywords to important
parts of your pages and see on-screen
graphs of relevance profiles (both yours
and your competitors) adapt in real-time
to reflect the changes you are making.
When you are finished, simply click
'Publish Pages' to upload your edits
directly to the web.

Competitor Link Analysis |
| |
It's important to know who is linking
to your competitors, because links and
other “off-page” metrics
often carry the most weight with search
engines. In this tool RankSense analyses
your competitors' links. The resulting
graphs tell you which sites are linking
to your competitors as well as pertinent
information about the authority and
age of those sites. In addition, the
link text analysis feature collects
and rates all the text linking to your
competitors' sites for your targeted
keywords. Search engines use the link
text (as well as the surrounding text)
to help put a site into context. |
| |
|
|
My Link Analysis |
| |
Here you'll compare the quality and
quantity of your links with those of
your competitors. If your competitors
have many more high-quality links then
you know where your work lies, because
if you can get similar links and anchor
texts then chances are that you will
be ranking right alongside them. Remember,
building links to your site for important
keywords is one of the most essential
tasks to gain
higher rankings.
RankSense does not include automated
link-building tools because the value
of the few links that result from such
efforts is very low. Effective link
building requires the personal touch
of creating rapport with other webmasters
and bloggers. There are plenty of articles,
blog posts, and sites devoted to link
building, and the RankSense user guide
also offers some helpful tips and advice. |

Important
Many SEO software solutions on the market
today operate like "loan
sharks," in that whatever
boost they might give your web site's
ranking one month tends to be taken
away with heavy interest the next.
This happens when programs try to
achieve high rankings for your website
through exploiting temporary vulnerabilities
in the search engine's ranking algorithms.
An approach often referred to as "spamming".
Because search engines take a dim
view of such practice, heavy penalties
are issued, and, sometimes, sites
are even "blacklisted" and
banished from the listings entirely.
This is a disastrous consequence
for any business.
And that's why RankSense takes a
very different approach to search
engine optimization.
RankSense evaluates
your website with the eye of a search
spider, and then helps you to genuinely
improve the quality and relevance
of your web pages for the keywords
and phrases you desire.
In other words, RankSense
plays by all of the search engines'
rules (and adheres to their guidelines).
The end result is high rankings for
you web pages that last - permanently.

RankSense has been designed,
right from the very start, in the knowledge
that you already have tools to manage your
sites and projects, so our philosophy has
been to ensure our software seamlessly integrates
with yours.
Edit Your Web
Pages “On the Fly”
RankSense includes a word-processor-like on-page
editor, which allows you to modify and publish
changes to your site instantly. There is no
need to switch between multiple applications.
You’ll see live metrics for your keyword
phrases as well as in-depth analysis of similar
sites. So, you will know instantly when your
changes hit the mark. The editor has complete
support for technologies such as HTML, ASP,
PHP, and Cold Fusion.
Integrated
Support for Blogging Platforms
Simply enter your user name, your password,
and your blog address. RankSense takes care
of the rest of the set-up for you. RankSense
supports Blogger, Wordpress, Live Journal,
Blog.com, Mytypes.com, Squarespace.com, Typepad,
Livespaces, and many other popular blogging
platforms.
Manage Your Site
RankSense automatically detects your homepage
and takes care of all file management, be
that locally on your hard-drive, or remotely
via FTP.
Virtual
Log Files
RankSense examines your website’s log
files in order to analyze and better optimize
your site. All of the most common formats,
like g-zip and zip, are supported. However,
because we recognize many people may not have
log files on their site, and that others may
not even know what log files are, RankSense
can easily install “virtual log files,”
which perform exactly the same task for you.
Say
it Once... Remembered Always
Provide data in one task, and the software
will generate results by using that same data
in all subsequent tasks. Your work is also
saved automatically and your session restored
each time RankSense launches.
Manage
Multiple Websites
Set-up multiple projects within RankSene and
switch between them using a simple drop-down
list.
Generate
Reports
You can even generate reports for all of the
tasks you have completed, and schedule time
consuming or repetitive tasks to be done while
you are away from your computer. |
Advanced
SEO Intelligence
RankSense models a process called ‘Advanced
SEO Intelligence’. We here at
NEMedia S.A. have developed this breakthrough
process over a period of 5 years successfully
optimizing our own sites.
Advanced SEO intelligence is based
on a unique combination of both competitive
analysis and finding web authorities.
Because the best way to achieve high
rankings for a website is to match
the relevance profile of top ranking
sites.
However, as we mentioned in the box
above this one a few moments ago,
many websites high rankings are built
on a poor foundation because they
exploit temporary weaknesses in the
search engines ranking algorithms.
RankSense is careful to ensure that
it only learns from the long-term
winners. Sites that have achieved
rock solid rankings.
That’s the essence of what
advanced SEO intelligence is all about.
Learning only from the best.
RankSense accomplishes this for you
with the push of a button.

Just as a taxi ride costs an amount proportional to the distance you want to travel, so do traditional
advertising methods. Even pay-per-click charges you fees proportional to the number of prospects you desire to reach with your marketing message.
SEO and high organic rankings, on the other hand, is much more like riding in your own solar powered
vehicle—as long as you continue to maintain your website and target the brightest search
engine opportunities, you can enjoy the benefits of a steady, ongoing stream of highly targeted
traffic visiting your website free of charge.
We urge you to seize this opportunity now.
Try our software on your website, compare it side-by-side with your current SEO methods and see
if RankSense doesn't do everything we say it will (and more).
All of us are well aware that making advertising claims about software ease–of–use is simple to do.
What’s more difficult is producing a product that makes good on those claims. That is why we encourage you to take a free trial and see how quickly you become a proponent of our advanced SEO philosophy. All we ask is that you refrain from making a judgment until you download RankSense and examine it for yourself.
Then decide.
